Aravaan is an upcoming Indian Tamil film directed by Vasanthabalan, based on Su. Venkatesan's novel Kaaval Kottam. It stars Aadhi, Dhansika, Malayalam actress Archana Jose Kavi and Pasupathy in the lead roles, with Kabir Bedi playing a prominent role, and Bharath appearing in a cameo role. The film's music is scored by singer Karthik.

Vasantha Balan has shifted gears to a period film from his Veyyil and Angaadi Theru roots. The period film titled Aravaan has Aadhi in the lead role. The story which takes place in the 18th century happens in deep forests as was told by Vasantha Balan himself.

“It was a soul stirring experience to shoot in the forests akin to nature which I feel more in retrospect after coming back to the cities,” said the director. He also added that the shooting went on well and that it was over.

The film will portray the Madurai region of the period before 250 years. The actors also had to speak in the Madurai dialect relevant to the period. Vasantha Balan retains Pasupathy and has actors he has never worked with in majority of roles.

Aadhi is paired with Dhansika in this period flick produced by T Siva for Amma Creations. Vasantha Balan wants to release Aravaan in August 2011.
