AYODHYA VERDICT 24 TH SEP 2010 | BAN ON BULK SMS BY GOVT FOR 72 HRS
Ban on ‘Bulk SMS’ by Goverment for 72 hrs | measure of security | Ayodhya verdict 24 th sep 2010.Ayodhya babri masjid case verdict 24 september 2010.The much-awaited verdict on the title suit of the disputed site at Ayodhya will be pronounced on September 24 by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court.
As a measure of security in the face of Ayodhya verdict, the central government today banned bulk SMSes and MMSes for 72 hrs (september 23-25 2010) with immediate effect.The ban ends on saturday night.
The order has been issued to all mobile telecom service providers in India for banning all bulk SMSes and MMSes in all service areas.Govt.
might also block all SMS services in sensitive areas and certain volatile cities for a few hours on the verdict day – this Friday.
The long pending Ayodhya case is about the ownership of the Ayodhya land to which Hindus and Muslims have been making rival claims over past 125 yrs.
While Hindus claimed the land to be the site of the birthplace of Lord Ram.At the same time Muslims asserted their right over the same as the site of a 16th century mosque,built by Mughal emperor Babur in the ancient town of Ayodhya, nearly 120 km from Lucknow.
The Babri Masjid at the site was demolished on December 6, 1992, by karsevaks and right-wing extremists who claiming it as the Ram Janmabhoomi site.And this had triggered unprecedented communal riots, which had claimed thousands of lives.
The government fears that some extreme elements may foment trouble by igniting communal passions after the delivery of the judgement on Ayodhya babri-masjid case on 24 sep 2010,using mobile devises.
