CHIRANJEEVI ARRESTED FOR PROTESTING OUTSIDE APIIC
He was accompanied by party leaders, including Kanna Babu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, P. Gandhimohan, C. Ramachandraiah, B. Veda Vyas and D.T. Naik. He alleged that thousands of acres of land was given away toindustrial houses and real estate developers in violation of rules. In the process, thousands of small farmers were deprived of their precious possession without adequate compensation.
Referring to the recent controversy of the EMAAR properties land deal that is alleged to have caused a loss of crores of rupees to the APIIC, Mr. Chiranjeevi said it was just the tip of the iceberg. “We will not stop until justice is done to each and every poor man whose land was forcibly taken away by the corporation,” he declared.
He said a CBI probe was required to ferret out the truth and bring to book those responsible for controversial deals that led to the losses.
As the agitators squatted on the road, traffic in the Basheerbagh area was reduced to a crawl.
When they tried to enter the APIIC office to submit a memorandum, they were promptly arrested and bundled into waiting lorries. They were later let off on personal surety.
