Mahesh Shrinivas Bhupathi born June 7, 1974 in Chennai, is an Indian professional tennis player widely regarded as among the best doubles players in the world with 11 Grand Slam titles to his credit.
In 1997, he became the first Indian to win a Grand Slam tournament (with Rika Hiraki). With his win of the Australian Open Mixed Doubles in 2006, he joined the elite group of eight tennis players who have achieved a Career Mixed Doubles Grand Slam.

Mahesh Bhupathi and the former Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta have formally announced their engagement on September 19th. Bhupathi is Christian by belief Mahesh Bhupathi and Lara Dutta have got engaged.
The tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi has tweeted, “So Lara and me got engaged in NY last week”.
Confirming her engagement, Lara Dutta first spoke to a publication and came clean on her relationship with Mahesh Bhupathi.
The actress says Mahesh proposed to her during the recent US open and it took her completely by surprise.
